The way they check battery usage is not valid as, there is also plug-ins that take use battery life (Flash being a big one) You have a lot of flash based ads on the web and that will drain the battery. Not everyone visit the same sites for the same amount of time. Battery life will depend on the laptop, how well the laptop and software are running and, how well it ventilates.

Opera has turbo mode thats gonna save a lot of power plus recently for Opera 11.10

Just recently, the Opera 11.10 release candidate was made available for download. It brought a handful of important feature additions -- like HTML5 File API support and IMAP enhancements -- and loads of bugfixes. Nestled in amongst the other details in the Opera team's announcement is one more interesting tidbit: Opera 11.10 offers improved battery optimizations.
