Why does Opera fail to grab a good per cent of user base like IE/Firefox/Chrome?

Opera is in the browser business for a certain time, still its user base remains at below 10%. What is the main reason of it? I know Opera has stronger user base, who do not shift!

I agree, just to little advertising, although I'm promoting it and at least 10 friends of mine have recently installed it just because I annoyed them to do so, and they are happy about it :D
I mean if all Opera users would do more promotion, it might work, because Opera has a very loyal community, am I right Tamil?^^

what the other said, and also because it has a different rendering engine, the web developers choose to support the other engines:

ie monopoly , maxthon : trident (or whatever is called now)
firefox mozilla, others foss browsers : gecko
safari , chrome , others: webkit
opera: foreveralone

Because most of the internet users don't even know what web browser is. That leaves two option to make browser popular - have monopoly in other computer/internet related business or have enough money to advertise it literally everywhere. Let's have a look on most popular browsers:

Internet Explorer - most obvious case, it's shipped with Windows which has ~90% of OS marketshare. It also has 'Internet' in it's name so many people belive it's magic icon that leads you inside our beautiful land full of trolls, porn and other biebers. There is similar story behind Safari, but of course = less OS marketshare = less browser marketshare.

Chrome - another obvious case - Google has monopoly when it comes to search engines and lots, lots of money to advertise it even in TV. Seriously, I was reinstalling my system recently and clicking mindlessly 'next' when installing my favourite software and then I noticed Chrome icon on desktop - it silently installed itself when I forgot unchecking box in CCleaner installation process. It's almost like malware - pay attention what you're doing or you may end up with unwanted Chrome and it's google update service!

Firefox - this one is more tricky. Mozilla didn't have monopoly (although it was basically built on very popular Netscape) or lots of money, but they used Google's money (lots of advertisement including this 1$ thing) and the fact that IE was very popular (Firefox without extensions was and still is very similar to Microsoft's browser). Also lots of geeks used Firefox and installed it on friends computers just because it's open source.

And Opera? It was founded by two programmers that nobody heard of before and no money or connections to advertise their product.

I would also blame it on bad web developers, who write Cr@ppy code that breaks in Opera or on purpose they block Opera for now reason

Tho Opera Mini has really good market share depending on where you look
